The Vessels
The Chronicle of the Journey
Come Aboard With Us
يَا بُنَيَّ ارْكَب مَّعَنَا
"My dear son, come aboard with us."
As the Ark sailed through waves like mountains, the Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) called out to his son with these words. The Ark was the way to safety, and a father wanted his child on board.
Muslim parents make the same call today. They want their children with them: holding on to their faith, understanding it, and living by it. That call is what The Vessels means to us, and the academy is built to help families make it.
Worldly Needs and Spiritual Needs
The body needs safety, food and shelter. The soul needs faith, knowledge and good character. Our name speaks of both, and each needs its own vessel.
The Ark of Nuh
When the flood came, Allah commanded Nuh (peace be upon him) to build the Ark and to take the believers aboard. It carried them safely through a world covered by water.
The Outer Vessel
Our story takes this idea into a different world. A submarine carries a boy away from a collapsing world and brings him to an island where he can survive and begin again. It meets his worldly needs. Yet a person can have food, water, shelter, technology and safety, and still not know how to live.
The Vessel Within
Just as the submarine carries the boy's body, every person carries what will shape their future: faith, knowledge, character, wisdom, responsibility and purpose. These are the needs of the soul, and this is the vessel the academy works to fill.
A Vessel of Knowledge
"I memorized from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ two vessels of knowledge. As for one of them, I have conveyed it. As for the other, had I conveyed it, this throat would have been cut."
Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 120. These are the words of Abu Hurairah, not of the Prophet ﷺ.
The vessel means knowledge, or the heart that holds knowledge. Generation 3 Academy aims to strengthen the heart with knowledge, spirituality, and character.
The Inner Flame and the Parents' Gift
The Inner Flame
Every day a student answers the same two questions from the academy's list of daily habits, in the order the list was written. The two stay for three weeks, then the next two take their place. Some ask for a du'a, which the student says or types and the AI teacher checks. Others ask "Did you...?" and are answered yes or no.
A Flame That Grows
The flame starts at 0 at the beginning of each week and only grows: 10 points for a du'a said correctly or a habit kept, and 20 each for four daily practices: reading Qur'an, the morning and afternoon adhkar, and the five prayers. An honest no costs nothing. Deeds a parent can see at home are sent to the parent to confirm, and one that did not happen costs the points it gave and 5 more.
The Parents' Gift
A parent can promise a reward when their child reaches a score they choose, and the child sees their progress toward it on their own page. The promise is between the family and the child. The academy records it and shows it, and no money passes through us. Students can also open a Certificate of Progress in their portal at any time.
The Vessels
One vessel carries the student to safety.
The other carries what the student needs to become.
